The second reading of the 2017 Budget was passed with a majority of 107 votes on 19 November 2016. 162 voted in favour of the budget while 55 voted against. 7 MPs were absent during the voting.

·  United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) – 41 members

·  Tamil National Alliance (TNA) – 16 members

·  Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) – 6 members
